Assessment of Heavy Metal Contamination in Soils around of Khash Cement Plant, SE Iran
نویسندگان
چکیده مقاله:
20 soil samples collected from the vicinity of the Khash Cement plant, Iran, were analyzed for As, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Mn, Mo, Ni, Pb and Zn using ICP-OES. The results revealed that the metal distribution were in a fluctuating manner considering various distances and direction from the cement facility. However, it was observed that the mean concentration of the soil samples has no special trend with respect to distance and direction from the facility for most metals. However, the cement plant is a major source responsible for metal distribution, but it seems that uniformity in topography and vegetation is major factor to control this kind of distribution pattern. According to the index of geoaccumulation, the soils of the study area are considered to uncontaminated with respect to As,Co, Cr, Cu, Mn, Mo, Pb and Zn. Cd and Ni shows uncontaminated to moderated contaminated characteristics. The result of enrichment factor show that, with the exception of Cd and Ni enrichment, all the metals were deficiency to minimal enriched in all the distances and directions considered for the study. The results of the metal analysis indicated that the environment under study is not at risk seriously..

متن کاملHeavy Metal Contamination of Popular Nail Polishes in Iran
Background: Toxic and hazardous heavy metals like arsenic, lead, mercury, zinc, chromium and iron are found in a variety of personal care products, e.g. lipstick, whitening toothpaste, eyeliner and nail color. The nails absorb the pigments of nail polishes and vaporized or soluble metals can easily pass it. The goal of this survey was to assess whether the different colors of nail polishes comp...

Background: Heavy metals (HMs) are one of the most important polluting substances emitted to the environment during cement production. Tehran Cement Factory located in the southeastern of Tehran, Iran, closer to agricultural lands cultivates alfalfa, barley, and maize as feed. The objective of the study was to determine the concentration of HMs in agricultural soils. Methods: Thirty six soil...
متن کاملHeavy Metal Contamination of Soils around a Hospital Waste Incinerator Bottom Ash Dumps Site
Waste incineration is the main waste management strategy used in treating hospital waste in many developing countries. However, the release of dioxins, POPs, and heavy metals in fly and bottom ash poses environmental and public health concerns. To determine heavy metal (Hg, Pb, Cd, Cr, and Ag) in levels in incinerator bottom ash and soils 100 m around the incinerator bottom ash dump site, ash s...
